AC Milan, concern for Loftus-Cheek: substituted against Bournemouth after a blow to the knee

Serie A

Udinese

AC Milan

The former Chelsea player started the match, but AC Milan fell 2-0 behind in the first half and went down to 10 men after captain Maignan received a straight red card. Amorim then replaced Loftus-Cheek at half-time with Adrien Rabiot, whom he had rested at the start of the match. It was a surprising choice.Although the substitution initially looked like a vote of no confidence and a tactical decision, a physical problem the Englishman had suffered had forced the change.

It was not a tactical change.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport and Milannews, Loftus-Cheek felt discomfort after taking a heavy blow to the back of his knee, forcing him off. Milan have yet to comment on the extent of the problem, and it remains unclear whether he will need further tests. The blow at least explains Amorim's decision to replace him with Rabiot at the start of the second half.
