A new threat after a season to forget: will Arnold return to Liverpool?

Are these reasons enough to close the book on Arnold in the Spanish capital after just one year?

Transfer expert Angelina Kelly tackled exactly that on talkSPORT, as reported by Bild. Her verdict? The ideal solution is a return to his former club, Liverpool.

Liverpool should at least weigh up the move, she reckons, because big question marks hang over the club, particularly in his position.

She said: "When you look at Liverpool, you ask yourself: do they need a new right-back? I mean, Frimpong didn't leave a particularly good impression last season, I think he plays better in more advanced positions, and Bradley is injured..." So, the 27-year-old could be the perfect replacement, couldn't he?".

The problem: many Liverpool fans have not forgiven Alexander-Arnold for his departure. They booed him at Anfield when the time came. How could he leave his boyhood club like this? Kelly, though, offers a different view: "I know what it is like when any player betrays his club, especially his home club, particularly if he is one of Liverpool's own sons. I understand that. But when Real Madrid comes knocking, it is hard to say no."

"So why does everyone not take a little bit of responsibility... and offer some clarifications, so that we can all come together again and be happy?" she added.

Kelly believes in second chances. That's why she said: "I think there is a way back, and there is definitely a Liverpool fan listening to me right now who wants him back. I can't be the only one who wants that. They should bring him back, because even though things went wrong on paper, there is always a way back." So does the same go for Alexander-Arnold and Liverpool?
