I Lariani need to outperform the likes of AC Milan and Roma, who have had to sell players to buy new ones this summer.

Why Como 1907 could be a contender for a top-four Serie A finish in 25/26
There’s no doubt that Como 1907 have been very active in the off-season. They’ve invested just over €100m in nine new players. Therefore, Fabregas and his recruitment department have worked overtime to try to significantly improve his side.
The club have clearly tried to identify young talent that can grow with the team. The oldest player that they have signed this summer is 29-year-old Frosinone midfielder Luca Mazzitelli. Only one other new player is aged 25 or above.
Fabregas has greatly improved their wide attacking areas, with Jesus Rodriguez and Jayden Addai arriving from Real Betis and AZ Alkmaar, respectively. Rodriguez is Como’s record signing, as the 19-year-old showed great promise in his debut senior season for Betis in 2024/25.
Celtic’s Nicolas Kuhn, another wide forward, also signed after scoring 13 goals in 32 SPL games for the Hoops last season.
Additionally, 22-year-old Croatian attacking midfielder Martin Baturina will help to provide scoring chances for Como’s front players. The next Luka Modric, as many call him, will arrive in Italy with huge potential.
For their defence, Fabregas chose to sign an Argentine holding midfielder, Maximo Perrone, from his former club, Manchester City. The 22-year-old played very well on loan for Como last season and agreed to a permanent transfer this summer. Perrone will help this new squad stay consistent in 2025/26.
Como 1907 struggled to score last season. They managed to score just 49 across 38 games, comfortably the lowest total in the top half of Serie A.
Fabregas will hope that the likes of Rodriguez, Baturina, Kuhn, and Addai can create more chances for Anastasios Douvikas and Patrick Cutrone.
Gasperini could galvanise Roma and Allegri is still a top coach for the Rossoneri
Although there’s significant optimism surrounding Fabregas' work with Como 1907 so far, they will need to get lucky to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Napoli, Inter, and Juventus may continue their momentum from last season and finish inside the top three of Serie A. Meanwhile, Atalanta begin a new period after the departure of boss Gian Piero Gasperini. They may fail to secure a top-four place, leaving the final spot for Como 1907 to aim for.
AC Milan are in a strong position to secure the final Champions League place in 2025/26. Under Massimiliano Allegri, the Rossoneri are sure to improve. The smart signings of Luka Modric and Torino’s skillful defensive midfielder, Samuele Ricci, give Milan greater solidity.
They should make up for Tijjani Reijnders’ transfer to Manchester City. Meanwhile, Brighton’s Pervis Estupinan seems like a great replacement for Theo Hernandez, who has moved on to the Saudi Pro League.
It is also a new period for AS Roma under former Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini. Roma finished just five points behind third-placed Atalanta last season. Having signed Brighton's Northern Irish striker Evan Ferguson on loan appears like a very good idea. In a less dynamic league than the Premier League, Ferguson is expected to play very well as Roma’s most valuable player.
Como’s top-four finish odds may offer more value than backing Atalanta. Meanwhile, Milan and Roma may have too much quality for I Lariani to overcome.
