Premier Soccer League basement side Maritzburg United could be relegated to the National First Division if they lose to champions Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Veresfeld on Tuesday.

That will see Rhulani Mokwena’s men doing everything to avoid losing at Loftus and it is a situation that makes it a potentially dreadful evening for their visitors from KwaZulu-Natal.
If Maritzburg lose, they will then hope that 15th-placed Chippa United suffer a huge defeat against Golden Arrows on Saturday.
Those would be the very slim survival chances for the Team of Choice, who currently have a goal difference of minus 16.
But they could do the job themselves by beating Sundowns on Tuesday and then cross their fingers for the Chilli Boys to lose as well as Marumo Gallants falling away at Swallows FC at the weekend.
