    WHAT HAPPENED?

Reports surfaced on Wednesday that Kaizer Chiefs and coach Nasreddine Nabi had parted ways on mutual consent.

This happened barely 24 hours after the Glamour Boys' 3-1 Premier Soccer League loss to Sekhukhune United at the FNB Stadium.

It was his third game in charge, having also seen his team draw 0-0 with Mamelodi Sundowns and edge Golden Arrows 1-0 before the international break.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

There have been reactions from all over South Africa following Nabi's exit, with the fans also having their say.

Interestingly, Chiefs were not in a hurry to confirm or deny the reports despite the rife speculations in South Africa.

Nevertheless, on Friday morning, they confirmed the inevitable.

  • WHAT CHIEFS SAID

"Kaizer Chiefs confirms that Head Coach Nasreddine Nabi is currently not with the team as discussions between the Club and the Coach remain ongoing," Amakhosi said in a statement.

"The matter is internal in nature and is being addressed through the appropriate processes.

"The Club remains focused on ensuring stability and continuity for the players and supporters during this period.

"As this is an internal matter, no further details will be shared at this stage.

"We appreciate the continued support and understanding of our supporters and the broader football community. Any updates will be communicated through official Club channels when appropriate," they concluded.

    WHAT NEXT?

The Glamour Boys have not confirmed who will take charge of the club on a permanent basis.

Chances are high, though, that assistant coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze will be given the chance to manage the club after a bright start to the season.
