    Chiefs humbled by Angolan outfit

    Kaizer Chiefs started their 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup with a loss to Angolan side Kabuscorp in the first preliminary round played on Saturday in Luanda.

    The hosts, who ended the game with 10 men following the sending off of Jorge, won the match courtesy of Julio Matondo's lone strike.

    It was not an anticipated result by the fans.

    Kaze and Ben Youssef blundered?

    This was the first game after Nasreddine Nabi's era; the Tunisian had been shown the door a couple of days earlier for undisclosed reasons.

    “Very disappointed by this boy McCarthy. His positioning,” Khanye said as quoted by iDiski Times.

    “He got the ball. He’s more focused on playing than on his priority, which is defending.

    “They [Chiefs technical] are playing too many players that are not complementing each other," he continued.

    "Aden McCarthy and [Inacio] Miguel. I don’t think they complement each other when it comes to defending. Look at the goal. Poor! Very poor.

    “This boy Aden ball watching as the ball travelled all the way, and he’s just looking at the ball, and there’s somebody behind him; they finish it’s a goal," the former Chiefs attacker concluded.

    Can Chiefs change the tide in their favour?

    On Wednesday, Amakhosi host Marumo Gallants in the local scene, a game they are desperate to win to end a three-match winless run across all competitions.

    However, the biggest hurdle will be on Saturday, when they will be hoping to secure a favourable result against Kabuscorp to advance to the next phase of the annual competition.
