    WHAT HAPPENED?

Mamelodi Sundowns were booted out of the MTN8 by Orlando Pirates, denying them an opportunity to lift their first piece of silverware of the season.

Fresh from the MTN8 upset, they visit Kaizer Chiefs for Wednesday's Premier Soccer League showdown at FNB Stadium.

Amakhosi defender Inacio Miguel has warned against underestimating Masandawana because of their latest setback.

    WHAT MIGUEL SAID

“At the end of the day, they [Sundowns] are the PSL winners [having won the last eight editions of the championship]. They have a good team and players,” Miguel said as per Sowetan Live.

“I think people are thinking that because Sundowns lost the game against Pirates, they no longer have confidence ... I don’t see it that way. It [losing some matches] is part of football. Sundowns are a big club and they play for big trophies.

“Our focus isn’t on Sundowns. We have to be focused on ourselves, on our job and what we can do to go over Sundowns. We will analyse the strengths and weaknesses of Sundowns," added the Angola international.

"They have some weak points in the same way that they have some strong points. You need to be ready for that, and that’s the main focus.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Wednesday's match is a stern test for Chiefs which will interrogate whether their bright start to the season is no fluke.

The Soweto giants have won their first three games of the season and it will be their first time this term to face opponents of Sundowns' calibre.

However, with Sundowns under pressure after failing to win three of six matches they have played this season, they are wounded and their coach Miguel Cardoso's appears to be skating on thin ice.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?

There are fitness concerns in the Amakhosi camp with players like Aden McCarthy, Bradley Cross, Nkanyiso Shinga and Etiosa Ighodaro battling to make it for Wednesday's game.

Also, Given Msimango and Rushwin Dortley are dealing with long-term injuries and will not take part in the Sundowns match.
