    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Kane's goal against Senegal follows his successful efforts in matches against Albania, Latvia, and Andorra. His strike against Andorra allowed him to equal Peter Crouch’s record of scoring in three consecutive games under Steve McClaren.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Despite Kane’s landmark moment, England’s overall performance was below par. Senegal responded swiftly and ruthlessly. Ismaila Sarr levelled the match after slipping past Kyle Walker and finishing from close range. In the second half, Habib Diarra struck in the 62nd minute to give Senegal a deserved lead. The final blow came deep into injury time, when Cheikh Sabaly finished off a fluid counter-attack, leaving Tuchel with much to ponder.
