Orlando Pirates attacker Relebohile Mofokeng has been enjoying a terrific week which started with his quick brace in the Buccaneers' 2-1 victory over Mamelodi Sundowns in the Premier Soccer League.

That was followed by his maiden start for Bafana Bafana and his debut goal in national team colours when South Africa beat Lesotho 2-0 in a 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifier on Friday.

The 20-year-old continues to shine and former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye believes Mofokeng's name should be mentioned in the same breath as some FC Barcelona and Real Madrid starlets.

    WHAT KHANYE SAID

“Well done to Relebohile Mofokeng for his composure,” said Khanye on iDiski TV.

“I’m happy for this boy he is one best talented players. This boy is on another level look at how he has improved, his age and I feel like if our league was really good this boy would be counted amongst youngsters like [Lamine] Yamal and Endrick.

“And we need to be honest there is pressure when you play for Bafana Bafana. It might look easy but its’ not because the jersey is heavy, I mean you are representing a country," added the former Amakhosi wideman.

“So, for this boy to be composed, well done to him, and like I said, the boy was under pressure because he set a standard when he got promoted.

“Yes, he was a bit off for three months because a lot was put on his shoulders. He redeemed himself from the game against Sundowns then Bafana so well done to this boy he did very well.”
