    WHAT HAPPENED?

Orlando Pirates have been doing well in the almost ending 2024/25 season.

They successfully defended their MTN8 crown before reaching the Caf Champions League semi-final where they narrowly lost to Pyramids.

Bucs are in the Nedbank final and in the race for the Premier Soccer League title.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

In their bid to sustain the momentum, the Sea Robbers are expected to add some depth to the team to avoid struggles as seen in some instances this season.

One of their reported targets is Chippa United attacker Sinoxolo Kwayiba who has been doing well for the Chilli Boys.

The 25-year-old midfielder has played 23 games for the club across all competitions, with a return of seven goals and an assist.

Club's Executive Director Lukhanyo Mzinzi has now hinted Kwayiba might be leaving at the end of the season.

    WHAT MZINZI SAID

“I think we are losing one, two, or three big players this season. These big clubs whisper in the ear of our players,” he told Radio2000.

“Once they whisper whatever they are promising, you will find that the player’s mind is no longer in PE. But we are about giving opportunities.”

Mzinzi added: “We are proud of Kwayiba, we are proud of Stanley Nwabali and what these players are achieving. If Kwayiba gets a better opportunity elsewhere, the boy is responsible. He is starting to buy properties and other things. He is a fine young man who deserves everything in his direction.

“The time is right, and I also think he has withstood the challenge of having so many players in his position, who are in good form. But he has managed to make it to the Bafana Bafana set-up. He has done very well. We are proud of him.

“He must inspire some of his peers and the kids that he grew up with. He is a Chippa United player; I am not saying he is going anywhere.”

    WHAT NEXT?

Kwayiba is in his prime, meaning he will have an instant impact at whichever club he lands at.

Pirates have to act fast and get their man before rivals convince him to consider their offers.

However, before then, they have a job to do in the Nedbank Cup and the PSL.
