South Africa will be looking for their first victory in the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) when they face Guinea at the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala on Monday.

They almost fell to a defeat in their opening game against Algeria, but fought back and collected a point from a 1-1 draw.

This was the first time South Africa failed to win their opening game since 2011 and 2014, when they beat Ghana and Mozambique, respectively.

Guinea, on the other hand, managed a 1-0 win over Niger in their opening game before falling 3-0 to Uganda in their second Group C game.

The loss to the co-hosts was Guinea's biggest CHAN defeat, and it also ended their 8-game unbeaten run in open play at the competition.
