Moussa Niakhate has broken his silence after the Confederation of African Football took the unprecedented step of stripping Senegal of their Africa Cup of Nations trophy. Although the continental competition took place last year in August, the matter of unpaid bonuses only resurfaced five days ago when Neo Maema revealed they are yet to receive a penny. According to the players' association's top official, they have escalated the matter to the South African Football Association with a view of resolving it once and for all.
The South African stars will contest for the prestigious award against other players from the continent during a gala ceremony that will be conducted by CAF. The continent's football governing body has also set up a dedicated voting hub where fans will cast their votes for their favourite goal. The voting process has already begun and will run until Wednesday, when voting will close.
