    WHAT HAPPENED?

Sipho Mbule was recently signed by Orlando Pirates after being released by Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 27-year-old arrived at Pirates with a reputation for indiscipline following him from his days at SuperSport United to last season's loan stint at Sekhukhune United where alcohol abuse allegations resurfaced.

Former Pirates attacker Steve Lekoelea does not mince his words when he offers words of advice to Mbule.

    WHAT LEKOELEA SAID

"Pirates have made a great signing with Sipho Mbule; he's a good player now representing a big team," Lekoelea told KickOff.

"He needs to remain disciplined at all times, and he should take a break from drinking to focus solely on his football.

"As a player on a big team, he must steer clear of distractions. Based on what we have read about him, it’s important for him to distance himself from alcohol," the retired dribbling wizard added.

"He should concentrate on his football and aim to represent the national team. As a country, we need him in our football.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Pirates' new coach Abdeslam Ouaddou is an avid admirer of Mbule before both joined the Buccaneers.

Before signing the Free State-born midfielder, the Moroccan tactician admitted he was aware of the negative reports surrounding the player.

Ouaddou expressed confidence about how he would handle alleged problematic players like Mbule.

    WHAT NEXT FOR MBULE?

Even before the arrival of Mbule, Pirates already had stiff competition in midfield.

It is to be seen if the former Masandawana star will be able to command a regular starting spot in a central midfield that has the likes of Thalente Mbatha and Makhehlene Makhaula.
