The South African has been feeling the heat in Algeria, but he managed to inspire his side to victory on Saturday. However, he remains cautious and bent on keeping his players in line as his future remains uncertain at his club.
After a run of poor results left the South African tactician under immense pressure, his players have responded by registering a huge win. Mokwena has recently suffered two big setbacks after the Algiers-based side were knocked out of the CAF Champions League and the Algerian Cup. The win has come after it emerged a club from Libya was keen to appoint the Mzansi tactician as their head coach.
The South African tactician is unbeaten in Algeria’s top flight and finally winning over fans and media. But this week brings a defining double-header: a league clash and a CAF Champions League decider. Two wins could elevate his comeback. Anything less, and his North African ambitions may be paused.
Mokwena's side were unable to secure a victory in the first-leg encounter. The results mean there is everything to fight for in the second-leg showdown set for October 26, as both sides hope to reach the next stage.
