Sundowns and Orlando Pirates game stopped after supporters invade pitch

The pitch invasion began a few minutes after angry Orlando Pirates supporters were seen damaging cables belonging to TV broadcaster, SuperSport.

This was after Mamelodi Sundowns had scored their third goal through Brazilian centre-back Ricardo Nascimento in the 62nd minute.

The match referee Daniel Bennett was forced to stop play in the 82nd minute after the fans began invading the pitch with Brazilians leading 6-0.

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) released the following statements on their official Twitter account:


 

The match resumed at 82nd minute after a 40-minute break, but pirates could do little in the remaining eight minutes of regulation time as Sundowns registered a convincing 6-0 win.
