Orlando Pirates provide injury update on Mhlongo and Sarr

Orlando Pirates will be without one of their key players when they take on their Gauteng rivals Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday.

The two local giants are scheduled to lock horns in a titanic PSL encounter at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in the nation's capital, Tshwane.

Pirates have announced that their first-choice goalkeeper Brighton Mhlongo will miss the game due to a leg injury which he sustained during the clash with Platinum Stars in midweek.

"Mhlongo, who was stretchered off the field in Pirates’ disappointing goalless draw against Platinum Stars on Tuesday suffered a leg injury and is due to undergo a scan to determine the full extent of his injury," a statement read on the official Bucs website.

The four-time PSL champions also confirmed that the central defensive midfielder Issa Sarr will undergo a fitness test just before the game.

"Meanwhile, Issa Sarr also looks set to miss the clash due to an injury he also suffered in the goalless draw with Platinum Stars," another statement read.

"The hardworking, hard tackling midfielder will undergo a late fitness test," another statement concluded.

Kick-off between the Buccaneers and the Brazilians is at 15h30.
