However, Sundowns congested schedule as well as the difficult conditions, which they had to contend with in Rustenburg seems to have taken its toll on the players.

Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane was forced to withdraw experienced defender Anele Ngcongca at half time against Stars and now it has been confirmed that he will miss out on Saturday’s action with a groin injury.

The club have also confirmed that along with Ngcongca, Sundowns will be without the services of Anthony Laffor and talismanic forward Khama Billiat which will come as a big bow to the PSL defending champions.

Mosimane has stated that the likely absence of the trio will be a major loss for his side, but will ensure that his chargers soldier on and do the business against the Clever Boys.

“It would be a blow if we were to miss all three players at the same time, especially that that our schedule is this tight, but we can never use that as an excuse,” Mosimane told the club’s official website.

“As long as we have eleven players on the field and seven substitutes, we have to fight on,” he concluded.
