Mamelodi Sundowns star Khama Billiat's future set to be decided in the coming days

The future of soon to be out-of-contract Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Khama Billiat could be finalised in the coming days.

The 27-year-old’s ongoing transfer saga has been the centre of constant speculation ever since it was revealed that he would not renew his contract as he had an eye on a move abroad. Reports in recent times have suggested that there was interest from several clubs locally and abroad. Most recently, reports coming out of Egypt suggested that the club were the latest to throw their hat into the ring with the likes of Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates also linked with the player.

Nonetheless, with all the speculation doing the rounds, Goal has it on good authority that the talisman’s future could be decided as early as next week with Billiat set to depart the Tshwane-based outfit when his contract runs out at the end of the month.

This will come as hefty blow to coach Pitso Mosimane’s plans after the 53-year-old mentor previously asserted that the club would fight tooth and nail in order to keep the star attacker at the club.

But Sundowns may already be preparing to lose the mercurial forward alongside Percy Tau, whose departure also looks to be imminent as reports by TimesLive suggest that a move for Venezuelan striker José Alí Meza is reportedly close to being finalised pending a medical.

It now remains to be seen just where the former Ajax Cape Town star will land up, but what is evident is that he will not come cheap with Billiat’s expected to take a massive pay rise as he looks to complete a move before pre-season training begins.

Billiat was most recently instrumental in his national team’s defence of their Cosafa Cup title where he was once again a star for his country as they clinched a record sixth regional title.
