Khanye tips Kaizer Chiefs to win league and Cup double

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Junior Khanye says the Soweto giants are more than capable of winning both the league and the Nedbank Cup titles this season.

Amakhosi are on an 11-match unbeaten run in the league, and remain in the hunt for their first league title since Steve Komphela took over from Stuart Baxter in 2015.

“Definitely I see them winning the Nedbank Cup and the PSL titles because they have players capable of winning things and who are experienced,” Khanye told Goal.

Khanye, who played for Chiefs between 2003 and 2006, believes the team has players like Siphiwe Tshabalala and Bernard Parker to help them on their path to success this season.

“I told people before they played (Mamelodi) Sundowns that they shouldn’t write Chiefs off because they can surprise a lot of people,” Khanye said.

“It’s a team that knows how to win the league. It’s a very strong team which has players that have been there and done that. They have players like Siphiwe Tshabala, Bernard Parker and Itumeleng Khune who have played in the (Fifa) World Cup and know how to win things,” he added.

“So, I don’t see anything stopping Chiefs from winning the league and the Nedbank Cup,” concluded Khanye.
