Former Kaizer Chiefs star Bernard Parker insists he has forgiven Mamelodi Sundowns' Bongani Zungu for the reckless tackle that almost ended his career.And to put the incident behind him, Parker would like to "shake hands" with Zungu and his coach Rhulani Mokwena.Back in October 2023,<a href="https://www.goal.com/en-za/news/ts-galaxy-put-on-a-brave-fight-against-mamelodi-sundowns-b-team-to-advance-to-carling-knockout-cup-quarter-finals/blt5d7a6bb719086e52" target="_blank"> Parker saw his career in danger after a career-threatening injury following a harsh challenge by Zungu</a> during a Carling Knockout Cup clash at the Mbombela Stadium.&nbsp;Eight months later, after the veteran striker returned to playing, he says that he wants to make peace with the former Rangers FC midfield maestro and his mentor.&nbsp;

WHAT HAPPENED?

''When I got out of the hospital I said on the radio that no one apologised, I never got a phone call or a reaction, but it made me realise and think that the sooner you forgive, the faster you recover,'' Parker said on the <a href=" https://youtu.be/QlPTRam-LV8?si=bAm1dWlkVqv-T2G0" target="_blank">Arena Sports Show</a>.&nbsp;''So, I would like to shake hands with Bongani Zungu and coach Rhulani Mokwena himself because he [Mokwena] has shown all the young coaches that anything is possible if you just put your focus and your passion in what you are doing.&nbsp;''And if you put your energy into what you are doing everything flows. His energy reflects on his team," he added.&nbsp;''I respect him and I believe that we should respect each other publicly as I said football is a human spirit. So, let's get that football spirit amongst us.''

WHAT PARKER SAID

Interestingly, the erstwhile Bafana Bafana player was against the same Sundowns when he returned to playing. Both 'Ben 10', as Zungu is known and Die Hond, came on during the second half of the match on the day.&nbsp;Coincidentally, one of the Rockets' players<a href="https://www.goal.com/en-za/lists/peter-shalulile-brace-inspires-mamelodi-sundowns-closer-to-psl-invincibles-tag-with-ts-galaxy-win/blt1ff353d5c6a79206#csca58547d8baeefde" target="_blank"> Orebotse Mongae was sent off after injuring Zungu.</a> The incident sparked talks that the player was sent by the Mpumalanga-based side to get revenge.&nbsp;Nevertheless, the 38-year-old Parker insists he wants to put everything behind him, make peace, and focus on playing football going forward.&nbsp;

Amakhosi legend, Parker is aiming to help Sead Ramovic's side secure a top-eight spot. Galaxy are in position six with 39 points with only four games left in this campaign.&nbsp;The Boksburg-born footballer is not likely to play many seasons going forward considering his age. He, however, looks set to pursue a coaching career when he retires from professional football.&nbsp;
