Kaizer Motaung inquired about Benni, says Cape Town City chairman Comitis

Cape Town City chairman John Comitis hopes Benni McCarthy will transcend the same mentality he had as a player that Kaizer Chiefs chairman Kaizer Motaung once applauded.

“You just have to look at how he played, and you know when he played for us at Cape Town Spurs, at 17, he scored two goals against Kaizer Chiefs away from home at Johannesburg Stadium," Comitis said during a press conference.

“I got a call from Kaizer (Motaung) straight after that and he said; ‘where did you get this footballer, I haven’t seen anybody with such football brains in a long time,” he said.

“I think if Benni can instil intelligent play amongst what we already have," he continued.

"I am excited that we will carry on playing this attacking, attractive football.

“You know, we can talk all we like and we can make all the glitz and glamour but at the end of the day, we are going to be assessed by what we do on the pitch and you’ve got to win,” Comitis concluded.
