Jonevret: Not much difference between Orlando Pirates and bottom clubs

Orlando Pirates coach Kjell Jonevret hopes their recent win helps them cement their spot in the top eight as they presently lie in ninth place, six points off bottom place Baroka FC.

“All the teams down there have to get points so that they aren’t relegated.

"Hopefully this win will give us confidence going forward because these guys have played a lot of football and they are a little bit nervous. We just have to fight on,” Jonevret said according to TMG Sport.

They are aware of the uphill task they are facing to consolidate their top eight berth, and Jonevret concedes the very same notion.

“It’s going to be a hard race because you can see that there isn’t much difference between the clubs around us and those at the bottom,” Jonevret said.

Goals from Abbubaker Mobara and Thamsanqa Gabuza was enough to keep them on track to finish the campaign with a piece of silverware after they helped see off Siwelele Sa Masele.

The win was important for various reasons, among others to keep the hard-to-please supporters happy and to stay in the Cup.

“We told them to listen to the people around them (the fans) and make them happy,” Jonevret said.

“I’m proud that we were able to come back to win the game. The players wanted to win this match, so much so, which is why they were nervous in certain moments.

"But the most important thing was to stay in the Cup and we did that,” Jonevret added.
