Will Mamelodi Sundowns lose Khuliso Mudau for FREE in July? Agent issues update on Bafana Bafana defender's future

Khuliso Mudau's Mamelodi Sundowns contract is set to expire at the end to June 2025 after the right-back has spent five seasons in Tshwane.

However, Sundowns have an option to extend his contract by a further year, making it difficult for the 29-year-old to enter into a pre-contract with a club of his choice before the end of the season.

Mudau's agent Steve Kapeluschnick, says they are yet to agree on a new deal with Sundowns, news that could motivate Masandawana's rivals to move in for the player.

“Yeah, his contract is coming to an end, they have options [to extend],” Kapeluschnick told FARPost.

“We have been trying to negotiate with them for a new contract, but we haven’t found each other at this stage.”

Chances are that Sundowns might move in to offer Mudau a new contract as the player has established himself as a key member of coach Miguel Cardoso's squad.

This is a player who has also been an influential figure for Bafana Bafana and sensational moves for the player by Sundowns rivals Kaizer Chiefs or Orlando Pirates cannot be ruled out, although the Brazilians have an upper hand due to the one-season option.

Currently, Thapelo Morena, Kegan Johannes and Zuko Mdunyelwa are the prominent right-back options for Sundowns and Cardoso might not want to diminish those choices.

Sundowns are left with two months to decide Mudau's future and it could be an anxious time for both parties.

It is a situation Chiefs and Pirates could be closely monitoring as they seek to beef up their squads in the next transfer window.
