Why Man Utd defender Luke Shaw has joined up with England squad despite missing out on call-up through injury - explained

Shaw has struggled with injury all season and suffered another setback in February, ruling him out of United's last six matches. Despite being unavailable for months, the defender reunited with his fellow Three Lions stars ahead of their friendlies against Brazil and Belgium, Manchester World reports.

Shaw travelled to St. George's Park where the England squad are preparing for the upcoming matches and the defender will continue his individual rehabilitation programme, though he is not expected to join any training sessions with his co-stars.

Shaw has been limited to just 15 appearances in all competitions for United this season and it is not yet known when he will be available for Erik ten Hag's team. However, there remains hope that he will be able to compete at Euro 2024 with England this summer.

The 28-year-old will continue working on his recovery and fitness with the hope of getting back onto the field for United in the near future and boost his hopes of being involved at the international tournament in Germany.
