    WHAT HAPPENED?

South Africa will, as usual, have four teams that will represent them in the continental inter-club championship starting soon.

In the CAF Champions League, last season's finalists Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates - who reached the semi-final before being knocked out by eventual champions Pyramids, will still compete with the big boys in the annual competition.

Kaizer Chiefs will then represent Mzansi in the Caf Confederation Cup, alongside Stellenbosch, who reached the last four.

WHO WILL CHIEFS & STELLIES FACE?

The defending Nedbank Cup champions Chiefs will start their journey in the first preliminary round against Kaburscop Palanka from Angola, with the winner set to face either a team from DRC or Comoros' Djabal FC.

Steve Barker's Stellies have been exempted from the initial stage and will now play either Foresters FC from Seychelles or Equatorial Guinea's Agosto.

WHO WILL SUNDOWNS & PIRATES PLAY?

South Africa heavyweights Mamelodi Sundowns will start their journey in the second preliminary round where they are scheduled to play either Nigeria's Remo Stars or US Zilimadjou from Comoros.

The Buccaneers will have to get past Lesotho's Lioli in the initial hurdle before playing either a representative from the Democratic Republic of Congo or El Merreikh.

    WHAT NEXT?

Sundowns and Pirates did quite well in the last edition, and it will only be fair if they replicate their performances since they have the quality to deliver.

For Chiefs, they have a chance to redeem their image on the continent, but for Stellies, they have already set the bar high after reaching the semi-final last season.
