    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs lost their last match 4-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns in what was the Carling Knockout quarter-final on November 2.

It was a game Samkelo Zwane featured for 45 minutes and was selected ahead of captain Yusuf Maart.

The heavy defeat was another game Amakhosi have been struggling this season and Zwane is not looking at the loss negatively but wants to draw inspiration from the result.

    WHAT ZWANE SAID

“Everyone is aware that we didn’t play to the best of our abilities; it was a tough one to take,” Zwane told FARPost.

“But the result in itself is a motivator, like a switch. It was more of ‘let’s go again, let’s try again’.

“It was more like a wake-up call. Maybe it was something that we needed. Maybe we were going to get complacent.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The defeat by Sundowns was Chiefs' last match and the Soweto giants will spend 25 days without being involved in competitive action before their next match.

Coach Nasreddine Nabi will be hoping his men will not be rusty as they prepare to resume the PSL campaign.

Chiefs have not recorded victory on their last three league games and that has left them eighth on the table.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?

Amakhosi host Richards Bay in their next PSL game on Wednesday as they seek to pick themselves up.

It is to be seen if Zwane will be entrusted to start in the middle of the park where the likes of Njabulo Blom, Maart and Sibongiseni Mthethwa are available for selection.
