    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi recently underwent a minor orthopedic surgery that saw him miss last weekend's Home of Legends Cup.

But the club has issued an update on the Tunisian and players who were on international duty in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with their respective countries.

The Soweto giants are preparing for next Wednesday's Premier Soccer League hosting of Richards Bay at Peter Mokaba Stadium and that match comes after 25 days away from official competitive football.

    WHAT CHIEFS SAID

"Coach Nasreddine Nabi is expected to be back in the dugout after missing last weekend’s Home of Legends friendly tournament in Gqeberha due to an operation," Chiefs said in a statement.

"Chiefs won the tournament after beating Lamontville Golden Arrows and Mamelodi Sundowns last Saturday.

"Going to Polokwane, Chiefs will be without defender Inacio Miguel, who picked up a red card in the last official game against Mamelodi Sundown, which was their Carling Knockout Cup quarterfinal at FNB Stadium at the beginning of the month," the club added.

"With the Fiacre Ntwari and Rushwin Dortley returning from international duty, the medical team will assess them as soon as they rejoin their teammates. This is mainly because Ntwari was substituted in the Rwanda versus Nigeria match after picking up an injury."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Chiefs have not won their last three PSL games and that has left them eighth on the table with seven points from five matches.

That leaves Nabi with the task to lift the mood in his camp to recover from that difficult run of form as well as the morale-sapping 4-0 defeat by Mamelodi Sundowns in the Carling Knockout quarter-finals.

With Miguel suspended, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe or Given Msimango could be called to partner Rushwin Dortley at the heart of defence.

If Ntwari is not match fit, Nabi has Bruce Bvuma, Brandon Petersen and Bontle Molefe as other options.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?

Amakhosi will be hoping facing Golden Arrows and Sundowns in last weekend's Home of Legends Cup kept them in perfect shape ahead of the Richards Bay game, and the next league fixture just three days later when they take on Royal AM on Saturday November 30.

Chiefs then have to wait over a week for their next league fixture against Polokwane City on Sunday December 8.

For now, Nabi will be hoping to have his injured men fit and help the team pick themselves up from the slump in league form.
