    WHAT HAPPENED?

Orlando Pirates legend Mandla Zwane has asked Monnapule Saleng to consider a reported loan move to Orbit College.

The retired attacking midfielder believes that such a transfer will benefit Saleng because what he mostly needs now is just a return to the pitch.

    WHAT ZWANE SAID

"It could be a good move for the boy. It might help to clear his mind. Being in a familiar surrounding like Orbit might do him good. It is going to be good for his career. What he is currently going through can happen to any player. All we want to see is Saleng on the field of play," Zwane told KickOff.

"A loan move will resuscitate his career. It's more of a progression and not a regression since he will still be in the Premier Soccer League. Orbit is in the Premiership.

"Where he is right now, he might have lost the rhythm, so a loan move would be good for the player. A short loan stint might help him regain his rhythm so that he can help Orlando Pirates going forward."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

As Saleng's future at Pirates looks bleaker by the day, he has been linked with a loan move to his former club, Orbit College. However, the new Premier Soccer League entrants have denied that the winger is on the verge of making a sensational return.

Saleng, who is yet to play for Pirates since December 2024, launched his career at Orbit College before he was signed by Free State Stars. It is at Free State Stars that the forward was approached and signed by the Soweto giants.

The Saleng-Pirates association was a promising one, as the star played key roles in their MTN8 and Nedbank Cup successes. But a reported wage dispute generated a wedge between them, leading to the ostracisation of the player.

    WHAT NEXT FOR SALENG?

As his teammates are busy with their pre-season programme in Spain, the 26-year-old's future is becoming an intense subject in the transfer window.

If the reported Orbit College move sees the light of day, then Saleng would have been handed a chance to revive his career away from the Pirates' pressure.
