    WHAT HAPPENED?

Orlando Pirates have landed in Spain for their highly anticipated pre-season engagement ahead of the 2025/26 Premier Soccer League campaign.

The 32-man Sea Robbers squad arrived at the Malaga International Airport on Tuesday and later proceeded to Marbella, where they will engage in a number of friendlies.

Bucs' assistant head coach Mandla Ncikazi said their preparations are going to target all scenarios in order to prepare the players better for next season.

    WHAT NCIKAZI SAID

“We’ve just arrived in Spain after a long flight. Today is about recovery, but from tomorrow it’s all systems go. The upcoming season will be tough, so our preparation must cover all possible scenarios," Ncikazi told the club's website.

"Last season’s group played 52 matches—that kind of workload is only manageable with a well-planned preseason. We have a new crop of players that we need to integrate into the group as quickly as possible," he added.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The pre-season will be led by head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, and he will use the 12-day camp to assess his players and start the integration process of the squad as his reign begins.

As Pirates focus on the pre-season activities, questions arise about where their star, Monnapule Saleng, is. The winger has been linked with a move away during this transfer window.

The forward, who is facing an uncertain future at the Soweto giants, has been heavily linked to Orbit College.
