    Stalemate in Equatorial Guinea

Stellenbosch and 15 de Agosto played to a goalless draw in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup's first preliminary round staged at Ebibeyin Stadium on Saturday.

While the Stellies received a bye from the initial round, their opponents managed to get a 4-1 aggregate win over Foresters FC to advance.

The two teams had nothing to separate them at the end of the 90 minutes despite a host of chances created.

When and where is the second leg?

The two teams are set to meet on Sunday, October 26, at the Athlone Stadium.

In the last two CAF inter-club games played away, 15 de Agosto haven't collected a positive result; in fact, they have lost back-to-back matches.

This will be a psychological boost for Steve Barker's men, who know that a win of any kind will carry them through.

A busy week beckoning for Stellies

Before the second leg in Mzansi, Stellenbosch will turn their attention to the midweek Premier Soccer League fixture.

Stellies will host Golden Arrows on Wednesday, knowing they have to push for maximum points after a poor start.

Currently, they are placed 15th in the log with just six points from nine games; having managed one win, three draws, and five losses.

    Massive test for Barker

Both matches, against Arrows and 15 de Agosto, respectively, are crucial for coach Steve Barker, and he needs the players to deliver effectively.

The tactician must balance his squad well and ensure that fatigue does not negatively impact the players.
