    WHAT HAPPENED?

He is in the final year of his three-year contract with the Sea Robbers with no extension signed yet.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The 47-year-old helped the Buccaneers win three MTN8 titles and two Nedbank Cup crowns in the 29 months he has been in charge of Bucs.

He has twice finished second in the Premier Soccer League in as many seasons, and Bucs are currently in the Caf Champions League group stage.

Pirates would definitely love to keep their man beyond this season, but Riveiro is reluctant to comment on his future with the Soweto giants.

    WHAT RIVEIRO SAID

"I'll give you the standard answer [about my future], which is I’m sorry to disappoint you and disappoint your listeners as well," the Spaniard said in an interview with Robert Marawa.

"Right now, we’re in a very important period of the season. We’re in the middle of the fifth month of the season; we’re not even halfway.

"There’s going to be a moment to talk about it and be honest about it, and we will see what happens," Riveiro concluded.
