    WHAT HAPPENED?

Thembinkosi Lorch joined Mamelodi Sundowns from Orlando Pirates in the 2024 January transfer window.

Coach Rhulani Mokwena had signed him to improve his squad, especially in the attacking department.

However, Nyoso, as he is commonly referred to, did not make the desired impact after struggling for game time and injuries.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Lorch's chances of featuring consistently at Downs suffered another blow when Mokwena left the team in July.

However, the tactician managed to convince Lorch to join him at Wydad AC.

Masandawana agreed to release him on loan until the end of the season.

Lorch made his debut in the Botola Pro League on Sunday as Mokwena's team beat Hassania d'Agadir 2-0.

The tactician was happy with his team and the new signings but opted not to promise too much.

    WHAT MOKWENA SAID

“I’m proud of the debut of all the players, except the last 10 minutes we lost a lot of balls, but ok that’s normal,” the tactician said after the match

“[Mickaël] Malsa still needs a bit of legs, [Fahd] Moufi needs a little bit of legs, [Samuel] Obeng, Lorch they need a bit of legs.

“But congratulations, a very good performance from the starters and from the subs.

"I’m not going to talk about Moufi, I’m not talking about Lorch, I will not talk about Malsa, I will not talk about Obeng and [Selemani] Mwalimu; you will see for yourselves…

“I honestly think that you will see they are very good players, but they to do the talking on the pitch," Mokwena concluded.
