Sekhukhune United attacker Elias Mokwana has shared what looks like lofty Fifa World Cup ambitions.The 24-year-old made his national team debut last Thursday in the 1-1 draw with Andorra and grabbed Bafana Bafana's goal. He also grabbed an assist in the 3-3 draw with Algeria on Tuesday and he is already dreaming of playing at the World Cup.

WHAT HAPPENED?

"Yeah, I am grateful. I think I did well, I helped the team to at least get a draw in both games,” Mokwana told reporters at OR Tambo International Airport.“It shows there's something I am doing well, and I just have to continue doing it, and improve where I need to improve."I did envision it [playing a World Cup], I always told my mom that I always had a dream of winning a World Cup, so now I'm working on that dream – hopefully we will qualify for [2026]," he added."I am excited, it was a really great camp where I played with a lot of experienced players and I learned a lot from them, and I was grateful to get one goal and one assist."We played with most of the players [that went to Afcon] in the Algeria game, so yeah, it was a bit different to the PSL."

WHAT MOKWANA SAID

After grabbing a goal and an assist in his first two matches for the national team, Mokwana might have done enough to earn a place in the Bafana squad when they regroup in June.South Africa coach Hugo Broos is looking for a reliable goal-scorer and the pacey player has shown promise that he can be trusted in front of goal.
