    WHAT MOFOKENG'S FATHER SAID

“My wife saw it first. She said, ‘This one will make a difference in our lives’, "Mofokeng senior told iDiski Times.

"I didn’t believe it at first. But then I watched him at 13 years old, playing with grown men – and I knew. This one is going far. From then on, we ran with him. Whatever he needed, we made a way," he added.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The father, in a series of editions, has continued to shed light on Mofokeng's early life. And this comes at a time when the Bucs forward has been linked with a move away from the Premier Soccer League.

The 20-year-old has established himself as a key asset for the Sea Robbers for the three seasons he has served the Soweto titans.

His exploits at the club level convinced head coach Hugo Broos to consider him for Bafana Bafana duties, where he went on to shine and has been a regular player for the national side.

    WHAT NEXT FOR MOFOKENG?

As speculation rises about his future, his father believes it is time for his son to test himself elsewhere, away from PSL.

Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana legend Lucas Radebe is among those who believe that Mofokeng should also transfer to an overseas club. He has been linked with Barcelona's reserve side, Israeli giants Maccabi Haifa and Maccabi Tel Aviv, and Major League Soccer side FC Cincinnati, said to be interested in him.

However, it remains to be seen whether the promising Mzansi star will make a move in this transfer window.
