Predicting Mamelodi Sundowns' XI to face Magesi FC - Masandawana's new signing set to make PSL debut?

Mamelodi Sundowns have an opportunity to jump to the top of the Premier Soccer League table when they welcome Magesi FC at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday.

Currently third on the log, Sundowns have two points fewer than second-placed Kaizer Chiefs, who have the same number of points as log leaders Sekhukhune United.

Masandawana captain Themba Zwane has returned to training following a thigh injury, while new signing Katlego 'Tsiki' Ntsabeleng is up for selection.

GOAL predicts how the Brazilians coach Miguel Cardoso could line up his men.

The Bafana Bafana captain has not conceded a goal in the last two PSL games and would want to keep a clean sheet again.

  • Thapelo Morena, Mamelodi Sundowns, August 2025Backpage

    RIGHT-BACK: Thapelo Morena

This is a tough call for Cardoso, who also has an in-form Zuko Mdunyelwa for this position, but Morena started the last time out and would want to prove to Bafana coach Hugo Broos that he deserves to return to the national team.

  • Aubrey Modiba, Mamelodi Sundowns, August 2025Backpagepix

    LEFT-BACK: Aubrey Modiba

After being left out of South Africa's 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Nigeria by Broos, Modiba still has a chance to prove that he deserves to start for Sundowns.

  • Grant Kekana of Mamelodi SundownsBackpagepix

    CENTRE-BACK: Grant Kekana

Having been recovering from a minor injury, Kekana hopes to come back to that form which made him a regular starter.

  • Keanu Cupido, Mamelodi Sundowns, August 2025Backpage

    CENTRE-BACK: Keanu Cupido

Cardoso prefers the central defence combination of Kekana and Cupido and the two are likely to start.

  • Teboho Mokoena, Mamelodi Sundowns, August 2025Backpagepix

    CENTRAL MIDFIELDER: Teboho Mokoena

Mokoena is almost guaranteed a starting spot by Cardoso and this is a player who can be trusted to control matters in the middle of the park.

  • Marcelo Allende, Mamelodi Sundowns, August 2025Backpage

    CENTRAL MIDFIELDER: Marcelo Allende

The hard-running Chilean could be a handful for Magesi in the engine room as he combines well with Mokoena.

  • Jayden Adams, Mamelodi Sundowns, August 2025Backpage

    ATTACKING MIDFIELDER: Jayden Adams

Another Sundowns player who has lost his Bafana spot, Adams has a lot to prove.

  • Arthur Sales, Mamelodi Sundowns, August 2025Backpage

    RIGHT ATTACKER: Arthur Sales

He has earned himself the full trust of Cardoso after the Portuguese admitted that he doubted him when he arrived at Chloorkop.

  • Tashreeq Matthews, Mamelodi Sundowns, August 2025Backpage

    LEFT ATTACKER: Tashreeq Matthews

His speed has always caused problems for many full-backs and he can use that to inspire Masandawana to victory.

  • Peter Shalulile, Mamelodi Sundowns, August 2025Backpage

    CENTRE-FORWARD: Peter Shalulile

Fresh from grabbing a hat-trick for Namibia in a World Cup qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe, that is the boost Shalulile needed to continue telling Cardoso that he should always lead the Masandawana attack.
