The 19-year-old Mofokeng recently graduated from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (Gibs) in Sandton where he had enrolled in a business course.The Pirates teenager was the youngest from a group of 26 players who benefited from the Premier Soccer League Player Transition Programme.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The teenager is among the upcoming South African players who have been regarded as <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-za/lists/wandile-duba-shandre-campbell-relebohile-mofokeng-and-other-youngsters-in-line-to-take-over-the-baton-at-bafana-bafana/blt6ddfeddcf6a184da" target="_blank">the country's future in football</a>.At his tender age, he is already an established player at Pirates and has played 27 matches across all competitions since making his debut late in the 2022/23 season.However, it seems the attacker has already made up his mind on what he wants to do after retiring from the game.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

"At my team specifically, they just asked who wanted to go to school and I just volunteered," the Bucs Academy graduate told <a href="https://www.sowetanlive.co.za/sport/soccer/2024-03-22-mofokeng-completes-prepares-for-life-after-football/" target="_blank">The Sowetan</a>."I heard that it's a business school and I decided to join because I am interested in business. Starting businesses [is my interest] but my challenge was how to execute the business ideas I have. Now, I think I am ready to start."I know what to do with my money after this course. This programme is all about trying to make sure we take the right path, knowing what to do after football," he added."The programme has taught me to think broadly, not just about playing football. I think we can't repeat the same mistakes as other footballers who made wrong financial decisions in the past," Mofokeng concluded.

WHAT MOFOKENG SAID

Mofokeng is now focused on helping Bucs achieve their remaining targets this season as they look to do the cup double for the second successive season and push to attain Caf Champions League qualification in the league. He is also in the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-za/lists/bafana-bafana-coach-hugo-broos-reveals-plans-for-orlando-pirates-starlet-relebohile-mofokeng/blt124b7e242197e646" target="_blank">plans of Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos</a> who is keeping a close eye on the youngster's development.His business plans may need to take a back seat as he sets about turning his promising start into a long and glittering career.
