Orlando Pirates fail to leapfrog Stellenbosch after shock Richards Bay loss

Richards Bay signalled their intentions from the start by applying high pressure on Pirates and displaying aggression in their attacks. They finally broke the deadlock after 36 minutes, with Sanele Barns slotting a low shot into the back of the net. The Sea Robbers had a significant opportunity to equalize shortly after when Tshegofatso Mabasa connected with a floated cross in the box, but he directed his free header over the crossbar. As a result, they entered halftime trailing 1-0. In the second half, Pirates pushed forward in pursuit of an equalizer, but the Natal Rich Boys employed a defensive blockade to preserve their lead. At the final whistle, Richards Bay secured a 1-0 victory, condemning Cape Town Spurs to relegation to the National First Division. Meanwhile, Pirates will be disappointed that they couldn't overtake Stellenbosch for second place as they remain third in the PSL standings.
