Orlando Pirates slayers send warning to Mamelodi Sundowns ahead of Carling Knockout final - 'It’s 11 versus 11'

Magesi FC goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze has emphasized that Mamelodi Sundowns will face a tough challenge in the Carling Knockout final when the two teams meet on Saturday. 

The Limpopo-based outfit, who surprisingly made it to the final of the 2024 Carling Knockout in their debut top-flight season, are regarded as the underdogs in this fixture.

Nevertheless, the influential Chipezeze firmly believes that Magesi have the potential to surprise Manqoba Mngqithi's team and assures his side will give a strong performance against the South African champions.

"We’re going to put up a fight that’s the one thing I know we are going to do. And like I said cup matches are unpredictable," Chipezeze told iDiski Times

"It’s 11 versus 11 and we just have to make sure that we are mentally prepared because remember, almost half of the team is going to be their first time in a cup final.

"You never know, maybe it’s going to be sold out, the nerves are going to kick in too since it’s going to be the first time for some of these boys. I’m just grateful that we have created history for ourselves," he added.

"This game is going to be more of trying to enjoy the moment so that in 10,15, 20 years to come, you will be able to tell your kids that on this day we played versus Mamelodi Sundowns and the rest is history."

Chipezeze has been impressive in the Carling Knockout, having received three Man of the Match awards as chosen by fans in each of the three Magesi matches.

Dikwena Tsa Meetse surprised everyone with a stellar performance when they defeated Orlando Pirates in the Round of 16.

They defeated TS Galaxy in the quarter-finals, then edged Brandon Truter's Richards Bay in the semi-finals to set up the final against Sundowns.

Magesi and Sundowns are set to battle for the Carling Knockout title at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein this coming Saturday.

After the final, Chipezeze's team will then travel to East London to play against Chippa United in a PSL clash, while Downs will shift their attention to the Caf Champions League.
