    WHAT HAPPENED?

Thembinkosi Lorch has returned to Wydad Casablanca, this time switching his move from a loan deal to a permanent move.

After the attacker's impressive showing at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, the Moroccan giants expressed interest in having him back at the club.

But talks with Mamelodi Sundowns took a long time before the two clubs finally reached an agreement.

GOAL understands that Lorch has signed a two-year deal at the Casablanca giants.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

If Lorch continues with the form he enjoyed at the Club World Cup, he could take Moroccan football by storm.

That could also see him being considered by Hugo Broos for a return to the Bafana Bafana set-up.

At 32, he appears to have time on his side to resume his international career and provide experience at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals.

    WHAT NEXT FOR LORCH?

For a second season running, Wydad will not be taking part in the CAF Champions League.

But Lorch will be hoping his performances in domestic competitions and CAF Confederation Cup will still attract the attention of Broos.
