Wind-up merchant Neal Maupay trolls England after disappointing draw with Denmark at Euro 2024

A beleaguered England side were lucky to escape with a point against the Danes despite taking the lead with a Hary Kane goal in the 18th minute. The opener was cancelled out by Morten Hjulmand's long-distance effort and in the second half, Gareth Southgate's troops failed to find their rhythm in attack which forced them to share the spoils.

While England fans were mired in disappointment at the lacklustre display of their team, Maupay was caught celebrating on social media. The French striker did not get a call from Didier Deschamps which leaves him with ample time to remain active on social media and the Everton striker is seemingly doing his best to rile up English supporters.

In the aftermath of the draw, Maupay took to social media and shared a laughing meme along with a caption that read: “It’s coming home 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿”

Even before the tournament started, Maupay had jokingly warned that he would troll England if they were to face France.

In an interview to talkSPORT, Maupay stated: "I’ve got a few memes ready. I’ve seen that we (France) can face each other in the semi-finals. It depends on where I watch the game. It will be in England, but I’ll have to be careful. I don’t want to be run down by 20 England fans! I’ll wait until I get home and then will be on my phone."

England will look to finish their group stage commitments with a win against Slovenia on June 25. Despite the draw against Denmark, they are on top of Group C with four points and Southgate's men must not lose to seal a knockout berth.
