Nasreddine Nabi urges Kaizer Chiefs winger Pule Mmodi to work on costly weakness - 'He can even be a starter at Bafana Bafana'

In the last couple of games, Pule Mmodi has been a key player at Kaizer Chiefs.

He was in action on Tuesday night as the Glamour Boys defeated Magesi by a solitary goal scored by Ashley du Preez.

Mmodi had a massive chance to make it 2-0, but he was denied by the woodwork.

The Magesi miss is not unusual for Mmodi in his career at Amakhosi, it has been his trademark.

It explains why he has not scored a goal in the Premier Soccer League this season despite the many opportunities that come his way.

The three goals he has, in the ongoing campaign, have come in Cup competitions.

It is a concern for coach Nasreddine Nabi, who insists the 32-year-old has what it takes to start matches for Bafana Bafana.

"About Pule, we work with him on finishing because we believe that if he improves on that, he's going to be a very good player," he told the media.

"He's a player that gives you a lot of things; defensively, 1 vs 1, attacking [he's good]. It's a click, when it clicks, we believe that he can even be a starter at Bafana."

Three goals and an assist for a winger in the 14 games played is not satisfying.

At 32, the winger has a few seasons at the top level and has to maximise on the chances that he gets.
