Sacre bleu! Marseille closing in on Gio Reyna transfer as French giants hijack Nottingham Forest loan move for USMNT star

The French club are in advanced talks with Borussia Dortmund over a move for the United States international, Gianluca Di Marzio reports. Marseille have shown interest in the 21-year-old since the January transfer window opened and are attempting to lure him to Ligue 1.

Marseille's bid for the attacking midfielder may come as a big blow to Nottingham Forest. The Premier League team reached a verbal agreement with Reyna over a loan move, it was reported this week. The Phoceens are also said to be considering a move for Nuno Tavares, who is on loan at Forest from Arsenal.

Reyna has been linked with a move away from Dortmund for some time due to his limited playing time in Germany this season. He has started just one of the 10 Bundesliga matches he has appeared in and the arrival of Jadon Sancho on loan could see his playing time cut even more.

Reyna will hope to have his future resolved and fight for a place in the starting XI of his next club as he aims to book a spot in the USMNT squad for the upcoming Copa America, which will be held in his homeland in the summer.
