    WHAT HAPPENED?

Khanyisa Mayo's agent, Basia Michaels, has dismissed reports that the CR Belouizdad forward could join Kaizer Chiefs in the ongoing transfer window.

Chiefs have reportedly harboured interest in signing the former Cape Town City forward even before he left for Algeria.

Michaels believes that the move to Naturena is not going to happen in the immediate future because Mayo has a running contract with the Algerian club.

    WHAT MICHAELS SAID

"Khanyisa's currently got two years left on his contract with CRB. He is currently in Algeria. He arrived on Sunday, and they started training yesterday (Monday). I have had no communication with Chiefs about Khanyisa. The only communication I had with Chiefs was communication of the past," Michaels told Soccer Laduma.

"At this present moment, this is not a thing. Why? Because Khanyisa has a contract at CRB. He's got two years left, and he's happy to stay there. He wants to continue that journey. I've received no offers for Khanyisa because he had just signed a deal a year ago," he added.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Michaels' clarification comes days after Patrick Mayo, Khanyisa's father, revealed that Amakhosi reached out to him to find out if it was possible to sign the forward.

Mayo senior also expressed that it is his wish to see his son one day play for a club he played for during his active days.

Meanwhile, Chiefs have been quite busy in the transfer window, as they have signed six players to bolster the squad ahead of the 2025/26 season. Asanele Velebayi and Luke Baartman have also been linked with possible moves to Naturena.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?

Amakhosi are understood to be in the market for one more striker after signing Flavio Silva.

Now, with the agent's update on Mayo, it means that the Soweto giants will need to look elsewhere to find another transfer target.
