Amakhosi supportersWhile Orlando Pirates supporters were in a confident mood coming into the derby after some good performances ans results of late, it was a case of the opposite for those supporting the gold and black half of the Soweto divide.But an outstanding performance with the most stunning of winning goals made it an afternoon and weekend to remember for Chiefs fans as they took bragging rights. It was a fourth consecutive derby victory as well for Amakhosi. Nkosingiphile NgcoboThe young midfielder has been given little opportunity this season. But restored to the starting XI for the biggest of games, he put in an industrious and tenacious performance to help Chiefs dominate the midfield battle. Yusuf MaartMaart will go down in Chiefs folklore after scoring one of the best-ever derby goals. Not just that - he'll do his confidence a world of good and boost his chances of earning a starting berth in the national team as well.

Winners: 

Ashley du PreezDu Preez will be pleased to be on the winning side, though he might also feel he could have helped ensure an even bigger winning margin had he taken two clear-cut chances. Having struggled in front of goal at times this season, he let a golden opportunity to become a derby hero pass him by on two occasions.

Losers:

Brandon Petersen - 6.5A quiet night in terms of saves, he did make two key interventions on a couple of dangerous Pirates balls into the Chiefs box late on when Bucs were pushing for an equaliser.Dillon Solomons - 6A surprise starter, Solomons looked a little rusty in the first half. But he improved in the second half and got some good crosses into the opposition box.Edmilson Dove - 6Was nearly punished early on for failing to get tight enough at a corner, but he got steadier as the match progressed and largely helped keep Kermit Erasmus at bay.Zitha Kwinika - 7Set the tone early on with some crunching tackles and remained steely in defence throughout the game. Nearly set up Ashley du Preez for a goal as well.Sifiso Hlanti - 7Didn't get forward much, however, he did his primary job of defending very well and managed to nullify the threat of Monnapule Saleng.

Defensive ratings:

Njabulo Blom - 8Was outstanding, especially in the first half when he tracked back to make some remarkable cover tackles. Helped Chiefs dictate play in the middle with a focussed, mature display.Keagan Dolly - 7.5He may not have posed much goal threat yet the captain led by example with an energetic display and was pivotal in getting Amakhosi on the front foot with his incisive passing.Yusuf Maart - 9Not only will his goal from inside his own half go down as one of the greatest in Soweto derby history, but Maart also had a fantastic box-to-box performance and was back to his innovative best.Nkosingiphile Ngcobo - 7.5Restored to the starting line-up, Ngcobo helped Amakhosi dominate the midfield. Set up a great chance for Du Preez and showed superb strength and hunger for the battle despite his small frame.

Midfield ratings:

Khama Billiat - 7Grafted hard, tried to give Chiefs an outlet in attack although he never really threatened the Bucs defence. Just back from injury he was substituted in the second half - though not before having given Maart the idea to chip goalkeeper Siyabonga Mpontshane - according to Maart himself.Ashley du Preez - 6Did brilliantly - and showed incredible speed, to set himself up for two one-on-one's with Mpontshane in two first half minutes. But unfortunately for the Chiefs striker, he couldn't find the composure to score and that's what his game will be remembered for - despite the threat he posed.

Forward ratings:

Kgaogelo Sekgota - 5.5Didn't make too much of an impact as a sub and appeared to have taken a dive late in the game to try Reeve Frosler - 6.5Steady showing, he made a couple of important tackles and helped see out the win.Cole Alexander - 6.5Took up some good advanced positions and made a positive if short impact.Siyethemba Sithebe - 6Didn't get involved much in his 10 minutes on the park.
