Kaizer Chiefs legend Itumeleng Khune gives his views on Christian Saile's reported move to Chippa United - 'They will make use of him'

Kaizer Chiefs icon Itumeleng Khune has expressed his views on Christian Saile's reported possible move to Chippa United, asserting that it could be a significant transfer for the Congolese attacker.

SABC Sport has reported that the Soweto powerhouse and the Chilli Boys are nearing an agreement on a loan arrangement for the 25-year-old player as they are trying to free up a foreign spot as they look set to sign an international striker. 

With the agreement still pending, Khune, who played alongside the winger at Chiefs for a season and a half, is convinced that Saile would be a valuable asset to Chippa's roster.

"Saile's strength is to run at defenders, but he has not shown that since coach Nasreddine Nabi took over," said Khune on SABC's SoccerZone.

"Remember when he came, he used to bang in goals. He used to take on defenders, creating opportunities coming from the right-hand side as a left-footed player.

"But I think if Chippa United eventually sign him, they will make use of him, but with Kaizer Chiefs, I doubt." 

Saile arrived at Chiefs in January 2023, with the expectation that he would have a prosperous stint with the Naturena-based giants following his impressive time at his previous team, Nchanga Rangers.

However, the left-footed player has not met the expectations, as the Phefeni Glamour Boys' fans have been calling for improved showings from him.

When Saile joined Amakhosi, he displayed signs of quality, yet, things have not progressed positively under the leadership of Nasreddine Nabi this season. He has played six games with no goal so far.

Saile is anticipated to finalise his rumoured loan transfer to Chippa soon before the transfer window closes on January 28.

If there are any hold-ups and he does not move before the end of this week, the striker might play when Chiefs take on Sekhukhune United on Sunday, January 19th.
