Kaizer Chiefs' Elias Mokwana blow? Esperance 'rectify' contract breach

Tunisian heavyweights Esperance beat Kaizer Chiefs to the services of Bafana Bafana international Elias Mokwana back in August.

The 25-year-old was meant to help the North Africans sharpen their attacking department ahead of the 2024-25 season.

Recently, Mokwana - through his attorney Kabelo Mashigo, claimed Esperance are in a breach of contract after failing to pay his dues.

That admission could have led to the termination of the deal and Chiefs would have gotten their man.

However, in his recent interview with SABC, Mashigo has now stated an agreement has been reached between the involved parties.

"No, we have made it clear that this cannot happen again, and the enforcement of applicable regulations will be applied without further notice, should anything like this ever happen,” the lawyer explained.

"On Friday we had a discussion with the club, and we were able to find each other. The club has essentially rectified its breach, meaning they are no longer in breach and have complied with the terms of the contract to date.

“Elias will be returning to Tunis to fulfill his obligations as per the contract, once he is done with national duty,” Mashigo concluded.

Mokwana will be aiming at delivering for Bafana Bafana on Tuesday in the 2025 Afcon qualifier against South Sudan.

Against Uganda, Mokwana was subbed after the first half owing to his struggles which could have been brought about by his club troubles.
