    Who have been loaned out?

Kaizer Chiefs have loaned out Samkelo Zwane and Happy Mashiane to Siwelele FC after struggling for game time at Amakhosi.

Both Zwane and Mashiane are yet to play competitive football this season.

The Soweto giants beat the deadline day for the two to go to Siwelele for the rest of the 2025/26 term.

    What Chiefs said

“With the transfer window in South Africa having closed yesterday, 22 September, Kaizer Chiefs have agreed to loan duo Happy Mashiane and Samkelo Zwane to Siwelele FC for the remainder of the 2025/26 season,” Chiefs announced in a statement.

“Both players are products of the Kaizer Chiefs Youth Development Academy. Mashiane, who plays at left-back and left-wing, brings valuable CAF Champions League experience, while Zwane is widely regarded as one of the most talented young midfielders in the country.“Their loan spells are expected to offer the players much-needed game time.”

    Unrealised potential

Having broken into the Amakhosi first team from the reserve side in 2019, Mashiane has struggled to build on the promising player who looked likely to become full Bafana Bafana international by 2020.

This is despite the 27-year-old being a versatile player who is at home as a left-back ot left winger.

Zwane also had potential after being promoted to the senior side in 2023, but struggled in a central midfield that has the likes of Thabo Cele and Siphesihle Ndlovu being preferred more by the coaches.

    What next?

Siwelele host Orlando Pirates in a Premier Soccer League match on Tuesday, and it will be interesting to see if coach Lehlohonolo Seema will give Zwane and Mashiane a run.
