    WHAT HAPPENED?

Monnapule Saleng played a crucial role in helping Orlando Pirates have a better start to the ongoing 2024/25 season across all competitions.

In the 13 games played, the versatile attacker found the back of the net five times with an assist to his name.

However, since playing against Al Ahly at the Orlando Stadium, Saleng has not featured for the Soweto giants again.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

There have been many reports surrounding Saleng's situation at the club including the club's reported refusal to let him leave for a better deal.

The most recent rumours claim Bucs have refused to increase the 26-year-old's salary which has been compared to that of a DDC player.

There are further claims that the club promised to reward him after MTN8 heroics, but that did not happen.

However, David Mogashoa - who was the chairman of a now-defunct Moroka Swallows, insists Saleng is in a good package at the Sea Robbers as opposed to the spreading rumours.

    WHAT MOGASHOA SAID

"I can tell you for free that when Saleng came to Swallows on loan from Pirates [in the 2021/22 season], he was on a very good salary, and that was no DDC salary," he stated.

"The salary determination was not by Swallows but his contract with Pirates. So, this story will be regarded as fake news," Mogashoa reacted.
