    WHAT HAPPENED?

Bafana Bafana forward Khanyisa Mayo has continues being linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs.

Now based in Algeria where he turns out for CR Belouizdad, Mayo's name is being mentioned as a possible signing for the Spoweto giants who are in the hunt for a striker.

But former Chiefs winger Junior Khanye asserts that Mayo will not be the answer to Amakhosi's problems upfront.

    WHAT KHANYE SAID

"No doubt about it he is a good player. I used to play with his father Patrick Mayo at Kaizer Chiefs," Khanye told Soccer Laduma.

"You know he has improved compared to the time before he left South Africa. He can score goals but he can't help Chiefs alone. I have seen him play in the CAF Champions League and he has power on both legs which is good as a striker but he needs to have quality players around him to do the job.

"Have a good number ten who can supply him balls to score and quality left and right wingers who can create and also score goals if he doesn't. So as much as he is good I don't think he can solve Chiefs' problems alone," added the former winger.

"They need at least eight or nine quality players. Not players who are available."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

During the current transfer window, Chiefs have signed Flavio Silva as the only striker but the Guinea Bissau-born forward is yet to convince that he is the kind of man who could end the Soweto giants' problems in attack.

While Khanye feels Mayo might not solve Chiefs' problems, another Amakhosi great Tshepo Masilela also does not believe the former Cape Town city forward is all that coach Nasreddine Nabi is looking for.

Other forwards like Etiosa Ighodaro and Dzenan Zajmovic are also being linked with Chiefs and they are free agents.
