    WHAT HAPPENED?

Inacio Miguel joined Kaizer Chiefs from Petro de Luanda in the last winter transfer window and has since been crucial for Amakhosi.

On Saturday, February 1, Miguel played his maiden Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates.

He was vital for Amakhosi but was unfortunate to see his team concede a late penalty that cost them at least a point.

The 29-year-old has now explained how it felt like playing in one of the best derbies on the continent.

    WHAT MIGUEL SAID

“Yeah, it was my first Soweto Derby. Emotions were of course everywhere, it was an amazing day for me to feel the real derby of Africa, for me it’s the biggest derby in the continent," he told the club's media team.

“So yeah it was unfortunate that we couldn’t make the victory but as a derby, as a first derby I was excited and tried to give my best to help the team. In the beginning of the game I was very happy and of course in the end of the game, I was disappointed.

“It’s not a normal game, it’s the first time that I experienced it with so many supporters on the stands. And a lot of family they sent me love to keep doing my best to try to help the team, it was amazing this day," Miguel concluded.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Miguel remains a key player as Chiefs continue chasing their first major trophy in a decade.

They fell in the Carling Knockout, and their chances of winning the Premier Soccer League title are discouraging.

However, they can push for the Nedbank title after making it to the Round of 16 where they have been paired with Chippa United.
